BURBANK — A Sunday evening dispute between long-time roommates ended in gunfire, leaving one man hospitalized and another in custody, according to the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of an assault at 7:21 p.m. on the 1900 block of Sunset Drive, Undersheriff Joe Klundt said.
An argument between two men who had been roommates for eight years escalated when one shot the other, according to investigators.
The victim was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he underwent surgery. Authorities said he is expected to survive.
The suspect, Robert John Pilgrim Jr., of Burbank, was evaluated by crisis mental health professionals before being booked into the Walla Walla County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
