WALLULA — Authorities have identified the 27-year-old worker who died following an industrial accident at a Tyson Foods meat processing plant in southeastern Washington on Friday.
Alberto Serrato, a resident of Kennewick,was killed in the incident, according to the Walla Walla County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner’s officials said they were called to the Tyson Foods facility, located at 13983 Dodd Road in Wallula, on Friday morning.
The cause and manner of Serreto’s death remain under investigation, pending the completion of autopsy and toxicology reports.
Tyson Foods officials previously confirmed the fatality at the plant, which the company officially refers to as its Pasco facility.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a team member,” a Tyson spokesperson said in a statement, offering condolences to Serreto’s family and colleagues.
Company officials said Tyson is cooperating fully with authorities. The company has also notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which investigates workplace fatalities.
Wallula is located in Walla Walla County, approximately 15 miles southeast of Pasco.
