BAKER CITY — A 19-year-old man was arrested early Friday after causing a crash while driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 north of Baker City.

An Oregon State Police trooper was dispatched to a report of a wrong-way driver just after midnight Friday. By the time the trooper arrived, the driver, identified as Devin Buxton, had crashed into another vehicle and rolled into the median.

Buxton showed signs of impairment and was transported to a local hospital, where a blood draw showed a blood alcohol content of 0.31% which is nearly four-times the legal limit in Oregon. Buxton was then booked into the Baker County Jail on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, and fourth-degree assault.

The driver of the vehicle that Buxton struck sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. A third vehicle involved sustained minor damage but was driven away.

As of Friday afternoon, Buxton remained in the Baker County Jail with no bail listed. An arraignment was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
