JOSEPH — (Press release from the Joseph FFA Alumni & Supporters) Wallowa County community support was on full display May 1 as the Joseph FFA Alumni & Supporters Annual Dinner & Auction raised a record-breaking $34,740 to support Joseph FFA students and agricultural education programs.
Funds raised through the annual event help provide scholarships, student travel opportunities, leadership development, and support for livestock projects and competitions, including the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and the Wallowa County Fair.
Founded in 1999, the Joseph FFA Alumni & Supporters organization has raised more than $409,000 in support of agricultural education and awarded more than 77 scholarships totaling over $77,000.
In addition to fundraising, alumni volunteers support students year-round by assisting with Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events, including speech preparation, interviews, parliamentary procedure, and leadership training. More than 20 volunteers contribute their time annually to mentor and support students.
Earlier this year, the Joseph FFA Alumni & Supporters chapter was recognized at the 98th Oregon FFA State Convention as the Outstanding Alumni Chapter, recognizing more than 25 years of service to agricultural education and student leadership in Wallowa County.
“Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended, and purchased items during this year’s auction,” the organization shared. “We believe in the future of our students, and the continued support from this community helps create incredible opportunities for Joseph FFA members.”
