LA GRANDE – Spring is here and that means it’s time to tidy! For La Grande residents and property owners, La Grande Main Street Downtown has posted information for the city’s annual downtown cleanup day, and are looking for local business owners to chip in.
The cleanup day is set for Saturday, April 25. Downtown business and property owners are asked to help sweep and tidy up sidewalks, remove weeds from urban tree wells, wash windows and doors, and generally tidy and spruce up storefronts to fit the spring vibe. As written by Main Street:
“A little effort from each of us makes a big difference. Let’s welcome spring with a clean, inviting downtown for our neighbors, visitors, and shoppers.
Anyone participating in the cleanup is also asked to blow leaves and debris into the street Saturday evening. The city’s street sweepers will make a pass downtown starting at 3:00 a.m. Monday, April 27 to pick up the debris.
For all residents and visitors, regardless of whether they’re participating in the cleanup or not, Mainstreet asks to avoid parking along Adams, Washington, and Jefferson Avenues overnight Sunday into Monday morning. The streets need to remain free of cars so the sweepers can do their job.
