EASTERN OREGON – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has released information on the latest confirmed wolf depredations for March 2026. In total, four depredations were confirmed for Northeast Oregon, with two reported in Union County and one in Baker and Wallowa Counties each. Information on the depredations is as follows:
The first depredations were both initially investigated on March 1 and occurred on a 90-acre private land pasture below Mt. Harris in Union County. The depredations constituted two separate events at the same location, the first estimated to have occurred 36 hours prior to investigation, and the second 12 hours prior to investigation. Two adult sheep were killed and, though confirmed as a wolf depredation, the group of wolves responsible is unknown.
The second depredation was initially investigated on March 9 and occurred on a 30-acre private land pasture in the Goose Creek area of Baker County. The Depredation is estimated to have occurred 5 hours prior to investigation. A single 7-day-old calf was killed, with the Black Pines Pack being confirmed responsible.
The final depredation reported for Northeast Oregon in March was initially investigated on March 12 and occurred in the Eden Bench area of Wallowa County (land parcel size not listed). The depredation is estimated to have occurred 28 hours prior to investigation. A single livestock guardian dog was injured during the event, though sadly later died of its injuries, with the Wenaha Pack being confirmed responsible.
