Arrest made in Franklin Co. agricultural thefts

PASCO – An arrest has been made in a series of copper wire thefts from agricultural equipment and infrastructure in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff deputies arrested Ricardo Perez-Ventura, 35, of Pasco last Thursday on charges of theft, attempted theft, trafficking in stolen property, malicious mischief, criminal trespass, and possession of a controlled substance.

Perez-Ventura’s bail was set at $5,000 according to the Franklin County Jail roster.

Investigators estimate that the total damage from the thefts exceeds $90,000. The sheriff’s office noted that wire thefts often result in extensive repair costs and operational disruptions.

Franklin County Sheriff’s say they’ll continue proactive and targeted patrols and enforcement, noting that community cooperation is a critical component in preventing these types of crimes.
