UNION COUNTY – On Wednesday, March 25, at around 5:32 a.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 203 and Peach Road, near hot lake. A Toyota Tacoma reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, crashed through a guardrail, and came to rest on a nearby private fence. The driver, a Union man, was thankfully uninjured and reportedly told officers that he’d fallen asleep at the wheel.
The full summary from OSP, as provided in a recent press log, is as follows:
“On stated date and time OSP responded to a single vehicle, non-injury crash that occurred on SR-203A at the intersection of Peach Rd. Vehicle was northbound on SR-203A when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle continued straight though a guardrail and down a side slope before coming to a stop on a privately owned fence. Driver advised that he had fallen asleep and was warned for Fail to Drive Within Lane. Vehicle was towed from the scene by Rock and Sons Towing.”
Drivers are reminded that fatigue behind the wheel can be dangerous. Even dozing off briefly or entering a short micro-sleep can be potentially lethal when driving. If fatigued, the safest option is simply to avoid driving or, if needed, pull over.
