MT. VERNON – The City of Mt. Vernon is completing a Water Supply Compliance project and wants to know how the public feels about it. The project is said to benefit all Mt. Vernon residents. City Recorder Sheila Kowing stated to our newsroom that, “This project focused on designing critical upgrades to the City’s water system to restore compliance with Oregon Health Authority regulations related to system capacity and water quality. The effort addressed key infrastructure deficiencies and regulatory requirements identified in prior evaluations.”
Kowing noted, “The comprehensive design solution targeted three primary areas: improvements to the Holmberg Well system, replacement of the failed Beech Creek waterline, and modernization of water metering infrastructure across the system. This currant CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) only funded the design portion of the project.”
A public hearing will be held April 14th to gather public input. Public comment can also be submitted to City Hall by April 10th.
