FINLEY – A residential fire destroyed a single-wide trailer in the Finley community Sunday night as firefighters battled windy conditions to protect neighboring properties.
Benton County Fire District No. 1 responded to the 19500 block of South 2048 Private Road at 7:59 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found the home fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters worked for nearly 30 minutes to gain control of the blaze, hampered by high winds that threatened to push the fire into overhanging trees and nearby structures. Officials confirmed the fire was under control by 8:28 p.m.
The home was unoccupied at the time the fire started, and no injuries were reported. While the trailer is considered a total loss, the displaced residents have secured housing with family members in the area.
Benton County fire officials were assisted on the scene by the Kennewick Fire Department and Benton PUD.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
