OTEC to acquire PacifiCorp assets in Wallowa County

WALLOWA COUNTY — Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative announced Thursday that it will acquire PacifiCorp’s assets in Wallowa County.
If the non-binding agreement is approved, PacifiCorp’s 5,514 residential, irrigation, commercial, and industrial customers in the county will transfer to OTEC service.
“OTEC has been providing service adjacent to our neighbors in Wallowa County for almost 40 years, and we look forward to extending those services to Wallowa County and welcoming these communities into the cooperative,” said OTEC CEO Les Penning
“The geographic alignment of this transaction will allow OTEC to further bolster resources in the region supporting both our existing and future Oregon Trail Cooperative member-owners.”
The agreement must be approved by state regulators. Finalization of the transaction is expected to take 12 to 15 months.
In the same release PacifiCorp also announced the sale of assets in Lakeview and Monroe. PacifiCorp recently sold its Washington operations to Portland General Electric.
This expands OTEC’s footprint in northeast Oregon, which already includes Union County, as well as parts of Baker, Grant, and Harney Counties.
