PENDLETON – Throughout the state, high school athletes are gearing up for spring sports. Most play begins this weekend, and Pendleton School District Superintendent Michelle Jensen says plenty of Buckaroos are ready to start.
The school has had nine boys sign up for tennis and 26 girls. Twelve girls comprise the golf team while the boys’ team has 35. Baseball has 28 athletes and softball has 28 as well. Jensen said track and field is also a big draw.
“We have 100 kids that have gone out for track and field this year – 56 boys and 44 girls – so we’re off to a really strong start with our spring sports,” she said.
While most teams begin play this weekend, the track and field team starts today (Wednesday) at PHS. Field events begin at noon and running events start at 1 p.m.
Sports schedules and other activities at PHS can be found at Pendleton.
