WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla Public Schools is preparing for a busy week as the district launches its 2026-2027 enrollment season and moves into the final stages of selecting a new principal for Green Park Elementary.
The district will officially open kindergarten registration and district-wide open enrollment this Wednesday. To assist families with the process, the district is hosting a Kindergarten and Early Learning Fair from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Walla Walla Center for Children and Families, located at 1150 W. Chestnut St.
The fair is designed as a “one-stop shop” where parents can receive on-site support to complete registration paperwork. District staff will be available to answer questions regarding busing and transportation, health and nutrition services, special education and bilingual programs, dual language kindergarten applications
Families unable to attend in person can register online through the district’s website. District officials noted that the priority period for open enrollment applications — those seeking to attend a school outside their residential boundary — will run through April 1.
In addition to enrollment efforts, the district is finalizing its search for a new principal at Green Park Elementary. Community members are invited to meet the three finalists this Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the school library.
The names of the finalists are expected to be released later today (Monday). During the meet-and-greet, attendees will have the opportunity to evaluate the candidates and submit feedback via comment cards. This community input will help inform the final hiring decision.
The successful candidate will succeed current principal Cesar Hernandez and is scheduled to begin their new role on July 1.
