Taunia Barr and Aaron Barr (Barrs) were indicted by a Malheur County Grand Jury on Thursday, February 26, 2026, on 239 counts each of felony animal neglect in the second degree.

Their indictments stem from a search warrant executed by the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on February 4, 2026. Thereafter 236 goats were seized.

At this time, the MCSO has constructive custody of the goats. However, the goats remain the property of the Barrs while the case makes its way through the judicial process. The goats will remain at their current locations throughout the proceedings. The goats are being cared for at a dairy in California, as well as at the Humane Farming Association sanctuary in California.

Authorities from the MCSO recently visited the dairy farm and reported a marked improvement in their condition. The goats are receiving comprehensive care, including:

· Vaccinations and deworming

· Hoof care and lice treatments

· High-quality feed provided in ample quantities

· Veterinary examination

Aaron Barr and Taunia Barr are scheduled to be arraigned on March 17, 2026, and March 24, 2026, respectively. The prosecution is seeking forfeiture of the goats from the Barrs and Grand Barr Dairy.
