Foggy conditions lead to I-84 crash near Pendleton; 2 extricated, hospitalized

PENDLETON – Two Idaho residents were hospitalized Monday afternoon after their pickup truck became wedged under a semi-trailer on Interstate 84 near Cabbage Hill.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes when a Dodge Ram 2500, hauling a loaded flatbed trailer, emerged from a bank of dense fog. According to Oregon State Police, the pickup struck the rear of a slow-moving, oversized commercial vehicle pulling three trailers.

Emergency responders had to extricate both occupants from the Dodge. They were transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck was not reported injured.

Oregon State Police said the investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued at this time.
