ONTARIO – (Press Release from Ontario Fire & Rescue)

On February 10, 2026, at approximately 8:26 AM, Ontario Fire & Rescue (OF&R) was dispatched for a structure fire on the 3200 block of NW 7th Avenue, in the Ontario Rural Fire Protection District.

Initial responding units included Engine 103 (crew of four), Support 106 (crew of one), and Command 105 (crew of one). OF&R requested a general page to alert off-duty staff. While in route, OF&R inquired to dispatch as to if any occupants or animals were inside of the structure; dispatch informed incoming crews that the structure was only used for storage and was not occupied. OF&R requested a water tender from Vale Fire Department.

OF&R arrived to find an approximately 600 square foot detached structure fully involved. Engine 103’s crew made a defensive attack on the fire while keeping the fire from extending to a nearby residence. Ontario Rural Fire Protection District’s Tender 158 (crew of two) and Brush 156 (crew of three) arrived to assist with the operation.

Crews successfully extinguished the fire and there were no injuries to the public or firefighters. In total, 15 firefighters took part in the operation. Idaho Power assisted by shutting off power to the structure. Several public safety agencies assisted OF&R including Vale Fire, Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, Ontario Police Department, and Treasure Valley Paramedics. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
