HERMISTON – Hermiston High School (HHS) has two new varsity coaches. The district has named Brittany Day to be head coach for girls soccer and Kendall Jones to serve as head coach of the volleyball team.
Day joins the Bulldogs following a strong season as assistant coach at Umatilla High School, which reached the Oregon School Activities Association (OSSA) quarterfinals. Prior to moving to the Tri-Cities area from Henderson, Nevada, where she spent four years as junior varsity coach and five as varsity coach. During her final two years there, her team finished second in its conference.
‘”Coaching brings me so much joy,” Day said. “It’s about more than tactics. It’s about confidence, resilience, and creating meaningful connections.
Jones has served as assistant volleyball coach at HHS for the past three years. A La Grande native and former player, she has coached in Union from 2017-2021.
“I love being part of something bigger, building a space where athletes feel supported and grow as people,” Jones said. “It’s a privilege to walk alongside them in their journeys.”
Athletic Director Larry Usher said with Day and Jones onboard, Hermiston High School is confident the soccer and volleyball programs will thrive.
“Hermiston Athletics is incredibly fortunate to add both Brittany and Kendall to our head-coaching ranks,” Usher said. “Brittany brings a focused and driven energy with years of success at the high-school and club level, while Kendall’s deep connection to our school and athletes makes her the perfect fit.”
