WALLA WALLA – The holidays create a lot of extra packaging, gift wrap, and boxes. To help reduce waste and keep recycling clean, the city of Walla Walla asks residents to follow these guidelines.

Recycle items like flattened cardboard boxes, non-metallic wrapping paper, glitter-free greeting cards, paper gift bags, clean plastic containers labeled 1, 2, and 5, and rinsed aluminum and tin cans.

Do not recycle glass, foil wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, plastic bags, Styrofoam, or holiday lights.

Reuse gift bags, boxes, and ribbons for next year to save money and reduce waste.

Residents can drop off recyclables at the Sudbury Landfill or Walla Walla Recycling, located at 13th Avenue and Elm Street. Please note that plastics are not accepted at Walla Walla Recycling.
