WALLA WALLA – Henry Contreras of Walla Walla has missed the 30-day deadline to appeal a $5,000 find for violating the city of Walla Walla’s chalk ordinance.
Walla Walla County District Court Clerk Lisa Winnett tells Elkhorn Media Group that though Contreras filed a motion to vacate the district court’s decision, he failed to schedule a hearing.
Unless the fine is paid, the debt for the ten infractions will eventually be moved to collections.
The city’s ordinance requires downtown chalk messages to be removed by sundown.
