PENDLETON – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a high wind warning for the foothills of the Blue Mountains, including the cities of Pendleton, Pilot Rock, Athena, Boardman, Hermiston, Heppner, Fossil, and Condon. The warning is in effect from 10 p.m. today (Tuesday) to 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Forecasters predict that southwest winds will range from 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts as high as 65 miles per hour possible. The winds could blow down trees and power lines, making widespread power outages possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Wind gusts could blow around unsecured objects.
The National Weather Service suggests monitoring the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. The notice also advises people to use extra caution.
