PENDLETON โ What began as a suggestion blossomed into a resounding success as the vision of holding a Pendleton Idol competition became a firm reality when the call went out for competitors.
A total of 65 people entered the competition. Preliminary auditions were held at the Vert Little Theater.
โWe had some very wonderful singers and wonderful people come and take part in the competition all the way from Boise to Wilsonville,โ Pendleton Convention Center Manager Pat Beard said.
Judges chose eight finalists, but due two โpeopleโs choiceโ crooners were chosen. They will each take center stage at the convention center tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. and a few tickets still remain to see the birth of what could become another Pendleton tradition.
The grand prize has doubled to $1,000 and the winner will, fittingly, receive a hand crafted Pendleton Idol belt buckle and a gift certificate from Daveโs Chevron.
The finalists are (in no particular order) Kenneth Crawley, Quincy Cole, JJ Hill, Bonnie Smythe, Cecillia Neal, Andrew Lindsay, Hannah Jennings, Gracie Caldwell, Ashley Jones, and Gavin Baker.
Tickets and more information are available at Pendleton Idol.
