City of John Day moving forward on wastewater treatment plant project

JOHN DAY – Melissa Bethel, John Day’s City Manager, was in KJDY Studios Monday and gave listeners a progress report on the wastewater treatment plant project that is underway. She said the design phase is 70 – 90% complete, and the work continues:

“It is going. We are not stopping. We just did a bid approval for our S.B.R. equipment, which is the motor—the engine—of the plant, and so we have that secured and we are trucking along.”

Bethel said in total, the project is estimated at $35 million-and-upward. The city recently had to undergo price hikes with their sewer and water rates.
