NORTHEAST OREGON – The fall and winter holidays may be a time of joy and coming together for many, but for many others the mental struggle doesn’t stop just because the snow starts falling. For Eastern Oregon residents of all walks of life that may be in crisis, either struggling with mental health or potentially even dealing with thoughts of suicide, remember, you are not alone. Resources and options are available both locally and beyond.
For anyone in crisis, the 988 National Suicide & Crisis lifeline provides 24/7 free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.
On a more local level for Union County, the Center for Human Development (CHD) In La Grande also offers crisis intervention at 541-962-8800, option 6, as well as more standard mental health and addiction intervention services.
For anyone in Baker County in need of support, New Directions Northwest Inc. offers a 24-hour crisis lifeline at (541) 519-7126 as well as a 24-hour substance abuse warm line at (541) 406-4444, in addition to other mental health and addiction services.
Resources are also uniquely available for individuals in ag and forestry. The Agristress line offers a 24-7 mental health and suicide crisis hotline designed specifically for ag and forestry workers at 833-897-2474.
These hotlines are free, completely confidential, and available 24/7. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, don’t hesitate to dial.
For anyone in Morrow, Grant, Wheeler or Umatilla Counties, Community Counseling Solutions offers mental health and crisis support, including a local crisis line at 541-240-8030 and a mental health warm line for less immediately threatening but nonetheless serious mental health cases at 1-800-698-2392.
