BAKER CITY – (Press Release from the Baker City Police Chief Ty Duby)
On November [23], 2025, at around 11:19 pm, officers from the Baker City Police Department were called to a disturbance in the area of 2604 12th Street in Baker City, Oregon. Calls came from two separate individuals stating that police were needed as a Mr. Johnathan Romine was at the home, uninvited and causing a disturbance. It was reported Mr. Romine was breaking things, yelling/screaming, and trying to fight with a visitor at the residence.
When police arrived Mr. Romine was shirtless and acting erratic. As an officer attempted to contact individuals at the residence, Mr. Romine charged an officer, and Mr. Romine was tased with negligible effect. As the officer attempted to take Mr. Romine into custody, Mr. Romine got hold of the officer’s leg and bent it at the knee, placing the officer in a dangerous situation. In an effort to get free the officer deployed a closed fist strike to Mr. Romine. Eventually, after an additional taser deployment officers finally got him handcuffed.
Mr. Romine had to be sedated by medics for transport. He was transported to the hospital for medical clearance and then lodged in the Baker County Jail:

Mr. Romine has a lengthy criminal history with frequent police contact from both the Baker City Police Department and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office. He is a corrections offender and on post-prison supervision for being a felon in possession of a weapon.
