WALLA WALLA – Big House Brew Pub, owned by Jason and Denyse Hutchinson since 2018, has been sold to Whitman College. The brew pub will reopen next year under a new name for as a community-centered space for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader Walla Walla Community.
“Selling to Whitman College feels like the perfect fit,” Jason and Denyse Hutchinson stated in a printed release. “We’re thrilled that they plan to keep Big House open to the public and continue operating it as a brew pub that welcomes everyone in the Walla Walla community.”
Whitman College President Sarah Bolton expressed gratitude for the opportunity to guide the space’s next chamber.
From a campus planning perspective, the location at the entrance to Whitman’s campus is ideal and offers the opportunity to make the experience of arriving on campus more welcoming for visitors.
The college will partner with Bon Appetit Management Company, which currently manages campus dining, to run the brewpub starting in mid-2026. The brew pub will stay open for one month, then close for around six months before reopening under new management and a new name.
