PENDLETON – Oregon wheat growers gathered at the state capitol for the ceremonial embossment of House Concurrent Resolution 12, designating Feb. 11 to be Oregon Wheat Day. Fittingly the first time the day is celebrated also marks the 100th anniversary of the Oregon Wheat Growers League. Adding the embossed seal was the final step in authenticating the resolution commemorating 2026 as OWGL’s centennial anniversary.

“Our state’s wheat farmers have long worked together to feed our communities, drive our economy, and share Oregon-grown products with the world,” Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read said.

OWGL President Erin Hansell-Heideman expressed gratitude to the Oregon Legislature for recognizing wheat farmers’ hard work.

“Wheat has deep roots in Oregon and this bill shines a light on the vision and grit that formed the league,” she said. “It honors the tenacity of farm families, the sustainability and innovation that move us forward, and the investments our growers make every day to nourish Oregon and the world.”

She said the Oregon Wheat Growers League is marking its first 100 years by looking ahead, not behind.

“We look forward to marking our first 100 years in 2026 and planting the seeds for the next century of feeding, fueling, and sustaining this great state,” she said.
