JOHN DAY – Today (Thursday) is the Grant County Fairโs salute to veterans and first responders, who get in the gates free for the day. Grant County Fair Board Chair Donna Palmer was recently on KJDYโs Coffee Time and noted that today is also a big day for the youth who are showing their animals:
โItโs a great opportunity for the kids to come together to show how hard theyโve worked with their animals. They are all looking forward to showingโshowing their families, their grandparents, their aunts and uncles, and one another, what theyโve done with their animals and their projects throughout the year.
I think itโs just going to be a great fair for all the kids to come together, all the families to come together; and thatโs what Grant County is all aboutโall of us coming together for the purpose of the kids.โ
Livestock market events take place today, and showmanship events will happen Friday. The Grant County Youth Livestock Auction will be Saturday in the Heritage Barn beginning at 4 p.m.
