JOHN DAY – The Reading with Rheanna program at the Grant County Library is in its third year. Rheanna passed away in 2022, and her mom, Tammy, decided to share Rheannaโ€™s love of reading with the community by spearheading the efforts. Through the program, any child can come into the library and select a free book to keep for themselves, every day the library is open during the month of August. Grant County Librarian Chris Ostberg was recently in KJDY Studios and explained the program to listeners:

โ€œReading with Rheanna is her momโ€™s way of sharing with the community how she loved to read. It is completely community-based in that people give her donations; they can give money, or they can give books. She then turns around and she gives these books to kids. All of them. It is all free.โ€

For further details about the program, or if you wish to donate, call or visit the Grant County Library.
