Baker City man cited for animal neglect

BAKER CITY (Press Release from the Baker City Police Department)

On February 11, 2025, the Baker City Police Department was made aware of a potential animal neglect case in Baker City, Oregon.  We received photographs from a local groomer showing a female German Shepard that was emaciated with an open sore on its shoulder.

Over the last week, officers investigated the case and today the following person was cited in lieu of custody:

Name:  Christopher Harrison

DOB: 04/22/2002

Address: 1695 Auburn, space #37, Baker City, Oregon

Charges: Animal Neglect in the Second Degree

Animal Neglect in the Second Degree is a class B Misdemeanor.  A class B misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.

The dog’s owner surrendered the dog to Best Friends of Baker City and the dog is currently being fostered and is recovering.
