OTEC Announces nominations for the 2025 board of directors elections

BAKER CITY โ€“ (Release from OTEC) Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) is a private, non-profit electric cooperative which is owned by the members it serves and is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership and are accountable to the membership. The Board of Directors makes business and policy decisions in setting the direction of OTEC. Directors are elected to serve three-year terms. 

For 2025, the nominating committee for Union County nominated the following individual for OTEC Board of Director position no. 7, Union County: Cory Miller, Incumbent.  

The nominating committee for Union County nominated the following individuals for OTEC Board of Director position no. 8, Union County: David Baum, Incumbent, and Seth Musgrove. 

The nominating committee members for Union County are Donna Beverage, Brock Eckstein, and Mary West.  

The nominating committee for Baker County nominated the following individuals for OTEC Board of Director position no. 9, Baker County: Charlene Chase, Incumbent. 

The nominating committee members for Baker County are Diana Brown, DeeDee Clarke, and Fred Warner, Jr. 

Nominations by petition are due March 7, 2025. To request a petition for nomination, contact the OTEC Administration office. 

Election ballots will be mailed to OTEC member-owners at the beginning of April, which will include candidate information. Results of the election will be announced at OTECโ€™s Annual Meeting which will be May 8, 2025, in Baker City, OR. 

OTEC BYLAWS 

Article III: Nomination and Election of Directors 

Section 3 โ€“ Each nomination committee shall submit its nominations to the Secretary of the Cooperative not less than 90 days before the annual meeting in which the director from that district is to be elected.  The function and authority of each committee shall terminate upon completion of the annual meeting. 

Section 4 โ€“ Not less than 90 days before the annual meeting in which the directors shall be elected, the Secretary of the Cooperative shall cause to be posted at the Cooperativeโ€™s principal place of business a list of names of candidates selected by the nominating committee. Additional nominations may be made by petition filed with the Secretary not less than 60 days before the annual meeting. A petition shall contain the name of the candidate and the signatures of at least 50 members qualified to vote, and a request that the name of the candidate be placed on the ballot. All candidates so nominated must meet the director qualifications contained in Section 5 of this article. Members may not nominate a candidate for director from the floor at the annual meeting.
