BAKER CITY – Students in the local elementary schools around the Baker City area will be entering the new year with full hearts. The schools again participated in a coin drive, benefitting local children in foster care. Together, the young students were able to raise over $2,500 in cash for CASA of Eastern Oregon! This was in conjunction with the Les Schwab Toy Drive that also benefits CASA kids. Rock over at Lew Brothers Tire Center in Baker City told our newsroom that their Les Schwab store was the gathering place for the efforts of the elementary toy and coin drive.
While each of the schools did great in their efforts, the Haines Hawks Elementary students were this year’s top earners, collecting $841.49 for the CASA program.
