HEPPNER โ€“ The Morrow County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo are reinstating its queen program after 10 years without a monarch. The position is open to students between the ages of 14-19.

Applicants need to live in Morrow County or other adjacent counties. The application packet must be postmarked Dec. 31, or returned directly to the fair office at 74473 Highway 74 by Jan. 6, 2025. The successful applicant will serve a term of one year as an ambassador for the county, the fair and the rodeo. While the 2025 fair and rodeo is Aug. 13-17, the queenโ€™s duties will begin on Feb. 6, 2025 at the Heppner Chamber of Commerceโ€™s awards banquet. The term will end at the next coronation in February 2026.

Applicants should be able to ride and present a horse at parades, rodeos, and other appearances. The queen will need to own or lease a suitable horse. Fair officials add that arrangements for a backup horse are highly recommended. The application and other information are on a link found at https://www.co.morrow.or.us/fair. Questions can be answered by calling Morrow County Fair Manager Susan Gibbs at 541-676-9474 or emailing her at mcfair@morrowcountyor.gov.
