AVALANCHE WARNING
The Wallowa Avalanche Center has issued an Avalanche Warning!!
What: Dangerous avalanche conditions exist today in the winter recreation areas out of Halfway, Oregon. Rapid snow loading combined with strong wind will create conditions likely to produce natural and human-triggered avalanches.
When: In effect from Thu, Dec 26, 2024 โ 7:00AM to Fri, Dec 27, 2024 โ 7:00AM
Where: The Southern Wallowas, primarily riding areas near and around Cornucopia, Norway Basin, Fish Lake, and Clear Creek Snopark.
Impacts: Recent heavy snow combined with wind will likely create widespread areas of unstable snow.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Very dangerous avalanche conditions. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches may run long distances and can run into mature forests, valley floors, or flat terrain.
