HERMISTON – The 56th annual Christmas Express is stymied due to construction. Hermiston Police Department employees work long hours putting together toys and food for those in need. This year it’s not as easy.

“Due to construction at the police department this year, our ability to take in food and unwrapped presents has been adversely impacted,” Police Chief Jason Edmiston said.

While there are toy-giving programs in the area, Edmiston said that only Christmas Express gifts stay 100 percent local. It’s still not to late to help.

The Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395, is serving as a drop off location for donations until tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5 p.m.

“Any unwrapped and new toys for boys and girls 0-11 years of age would be greatly appreciated,” Edmiston said.
