ELGIN – The Elgin Lions Club has been busy lately. During December 6 and 7, 2024, the club sponsored its annual basketball tournament at the Elgin High School. According to Lions Club member Jared Rogers, the tournament brought in around 400 spectators and around 100 players, including the JV teams from Baker, Enterprise, Elgin and Huntington. As also written in a recent press release from The Lions Club:

“Included at the tournament was a Lion hospitality room for the coaches, referees, and drivers. According to Rogers, the tournament netted over $1400 for the club coffers.”

The club has been operating the tournament for over fifteen years. Reflecting on the success of this year and the overwhelming support from the community, Jared told Elkhorn Media Group:

“I’d like to thank all the Enterprise, Elgin, Baker and Huntington parents and fans that showed up and supported the Lions by supporting the basketball tournament, and all the good sportsmen too.”

In addition to the Basketball tournament, the Lions were on the ground at the Elgin Opera house ushering visitors during the production of “Annie” throughout November and December.
