Baker County residents can learn about fire ecology

BAKER COUNTY — Hundreds of thousands of acres have burned within Baker County due to wildfire over the 2024 fire season. Locals now have a chance to learn about fire ecology in an opportunity through the local extension office.

A free webinar has come available through the Baker County OSU Extension Office that teaches about the fire ecology of the many ecosystems across Oregon. It is called Fire Ecology of Oregon Forests, and begins on January 9th. The series will continue on selected Thursdays through March 27th. According to Baker County Extension, continuing education credits are available through both the Society of American Foresters and Associated Oregon Loggers.
