LA GRANDE — (Release from Grande Ronde Hospital) Grande Ronde Hospital (GRH) is taking proactive measures to protect our patients, staff, and the broader community amid an increase in Norovirus cases in our region.

Effective immediately, we are implementing temporary visitor restrictions hospital-wide in all
patient care areas as a precautionary measure.

These restrictions are necessary to minimize the potential spread of Norovirus, a highly
contagious virus that can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting, diarrhea,
nausea, and abdominal pain, headaches, fever, and body aches. While this decision was not
made lightly, the health and safety of our patients and staff remain our top priorities.
GRH Visitor Restriction Details:

  • Patients will be allowed one visitor per stay, with required pre-screening.
  • No visitors under the age of 12 will be permitted.
  • Exceptions for end-of-life care or other unique case scenarios must be prearranged.
  • Approved visitors must adhere to strict infection prevention protocols, including
wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and undergoing screening upon entry.

We understand that these restrictions may cause inconvenience and appreciate the
community’s understanding and cooperation as we work together to minimize health risks.
Grande Ronde Hospital and Center for Human Development, Inc. (CHD) would like to offer
these simple suggestions to help mitigate your risk and keep you and your families safe.
What You Can Do to Help:

  • Practice frequent handwashing with soap and water. This simple step is highly effective at reducing the spread of Norovirus, flu, RSV, and other seasonal illnesses. Alcohol-based sanitizers are less effective options.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell or have been exposed to someone with Norovirus.
  • Stay informed about symptoms and seek medical care if needed.

Grande Ronde Hospital and the Center for Human Development, Inc. (CHD) remain committed
to providing exceptional care while prioritizing the safety of all. We will continue to monitor the
situation closely and provide updates as necessary. Thank you for your support and
understanding during this time.
