Search underway for missing Washington man

UMATILLA NATIONAL FOREST – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports multiple agencies are looking for Henry “Wayne” Mitchell, 67, who is believed to missing. His vehicle was found Saturday, Nov. 23 near Patrick’s Grade/Tucannon campground near Pomeroy.

Authorities received information that Mitchell went into the mountains the day before around noon.

Coordinated efforts with neighboring law enforcement agencies, search and rescue teams, as well as additional state agencies and tracking animals have been on the ground since Saturday, Nov. 23.
