JOSEPH – The Joseph Branch of the Trail with Rail program has been awarded a $20,000 dollar grant from the Roundhouse Foundation. The Joseph Branch Trail with Rail is a program meant to create a 63-mile non-motorized trail connecting the communities of Elgin, Minam, Wallowa, Lostine, Enterprise and Joseph. The trail, built alongside pre-existing railroad tracks, is intended to be accessible for hikers, cyclists and horseback riders, in addition to being ADA compliant.

This is the third grant received by the Joseph Branch from the Roundhouse Foundation, the first being a $1,200 dollar grant for the Elgin segment and the second a $5,000 grant for the Wallowa section. In a recent newsletter, the Joseph Branch wrote:

“We’re beyond thrilled with this third grant, which will help us keep up as this trail continues to grow. The Roundhouse Foundation is a private family foundation based in Sisters, Oregon, that supports creative solutions to the unique challenges associated with rural culture and the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Thank you, Roundhouse Team!”
