CPPD investigating smash and grab

COLLEGE PLACE – A business in College Place was burglarized after a suspect broke in and stole a safe containing several thousand dollars in cash.

The College Place Police Department responded Friday just after 7 a.m. to Cost Less Carpet, 730 NE Rose St. An employee advised officers that when he arrived to open the business for the day, he located the glass broken out of the front door.

Officers and a K-9 searched the business but did not locate a suspect. During the search, officers located several areas of damage and other obvious signs of a burglary.

Detectives arrived to assist in gathering DNA evidence. The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and Walla Walla Police Department also assisted.
