PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council will meet at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) and the public will have a chance to speak out about proposed changes to the city’s sign ordinance for the historic downtown region.
The Pendleton Planning Commission has approved changing the ordinance to ensure that signs in the downtown area reflect the historic look of the district. City staff is also recommending the council approve the changes.
Meanwhile, opposition has risen from operators of some businesses in the district as well as business owner that are located outside of it. A petition in opposition contains 104 signatures.
Also at the meeting, the council will hear an analysis of the study of the McKay Creek Basin. The Pendleton Development Commission will meet prior to the council meeting at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall.
