Stacy Follett, the women who forged $36,500 worth of checks from a local Elgin business, has been sentenced

ELGIN – Stacy Follett of Summerville will spend approximately seven years in jail after stealing over $36,000 dollars from a local Elgin Business. 

Follett was arrested in July 2023 after owners of Billy Bob’s Butcher Shop in Elgin called the Union County Sheriff’s Office after discovering forged checks made out to Follett and her significant other. According to the probable cause affidavit, the owners of the butcher shop met with a Union County Deputy and provided nine checks that were forged totaling $36,500.

The owners said Follet was a close friend and worked for them at the butcher shop as the Assistant Officer Manager. In that role, Follett had access to company checks.

Yesterday, November 14, 2024, Follett was sentenced on seven counts related to the arrest, 18 others were dismissed.  A list of the sentences for each count can be found below.

Count 1: Aggravated Theft in the First Degree

Sentence: The Defendant is sentenced to the custody of County Jail, for a period of 60 day(s).  Defendant is remanded to the custody of the Union County Sheriff for transportation to the supervisory authority for service of the sentence. Defendant may receive credit for time served.

Count 2: Forgery in the First Degree

Conviction based on a Guilty Plea 11/12/2024

Sentence: Defendant is sentenced to the custody of county jail for a period of 30 day(s). Defendant is remanded to the custody of the Union County Sheriff’s Office for Transportation to the Supervisory Authority for service of this sentence. Defendant may receive credit for time served.

This sentence shall be concurrent with all previously imposed sentences

Count 5: Forgery in the First Degree

Sentence: Defendant is sentenced to the custody of county jail for a period of 18 month(s) Defendant is remanded to the custody of the Union County Sheriff’s Office for Transportation to the Oregon Dept of Corrections for service of this sentence. Concurrent to counts 1 and 2.  Defendant may receive credit for time served.

Count 8: Forgery in the First Degree

For reasons stated on the record, this sentence shall be consecutive to sentence(s) imposed herein on Count(s) 5.
