PENDLETON(News release from the Oregon Department of Transportation) We are holding an in-person open house to share our findings and discuss the next steps for the intersections at SW Dorion Avenue/SW 10th Street and SW Court Avenue/SW First Street. This open house is the culmination of a months-long traffic study and comment period about the future of these two traffic signals in Pendleton.

We hope you can join us

Starting at 6 p.m., we’ll give an overview of how we got here, what we learned and outline our next steps for these intersections. There will be time for questions after the presentation. Light refreshments will be provided.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 20.
  • 6-7 p.m.
  • Pendleton Convention Center, Rooms 6 and 7.

Background

We began designing an intersection improvement project in downtown Pendleton to enhance travel efficiency and safety while reducing maintenance costs. The traffic signals at SW Court Avenue and SW First Street, as well as SW Dorion Avenue and SW 10th Street, have exceeded their lifespans and are no longer needed due to changed traffic conditions. In March, we implemented interim traffic control measures at both intersections to monitor the new traffic pattern. In September, we reactivated the signals at SW Dorion Avenue and SW 10th Street to accommodate the increase in out-of-town traffic during the Pendleton Round-up.

Thank you! We again want to thank everyone for their active participation and valuable feedback during the monitoring period. We look forward to meeting with you on Nov. 20.
