GRANT COUNTY – Here’s an update on a story we reported on-air last week regarding the activation of Grant County Search and Rescue, along with the John Day Ambulance, who responded to the report of an injured hunter in the North Fork John Day Wilderness.

Sheriff Todd McKinley expanded on the incident during a recent Coffee Time episode on KJDY:

“Had quite a Search and Rescue event last Thursday night out in on the North Fork [John Day] Wilderness, where a hunter had injured himself. I’ve got to hand it to our ambulance crew. A couple of them, and some Search and Rescue members, hiked way up into the wilderness…a lot farther than they thought, and they did great. Got the individual taken care of, and packaged, and ready for his ride out on horseback the next day.”
