Teen sentenced in 2022 WW stabbing

WALLA WALLA – Kenny Stephen Sanchez-Garcia, 18, of Kennewick was sentenced Monday to more than 16 years in prison in Walla Walla County Superior Court. He, along with two other defendants from Kennewick, were arrested for their involvement in the 2022 fatal stabbing of Miguel Perez Barragan, 24, in Walla Walla.

He was also sentenced to three years community custody upon his release, plus Sanchez-Garcia is to have no contact with the victim’s family. The court also found him liable for restitution to cover burial costs.

Sanchez-Garcia, who was 16 at the time of the stabbing, was charged and tried as an adult. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

As for the other two defendants, Eros Emiliano Patterson, 18, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in adult court, and will be sentenced Dec. 2. The third defendant, who was 14 at the time of the stabbing, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder as a juvenile and has been sentenced to confinement in the juvenile system until 21 years old, the maximum age for juvenile jurisdiction in Washington.
