OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Commerce Friday announced a $199,990 grant to the Prescott School District. The district will used the grant to explore how it can increase local childcare capacity.
Commerce spokesperson Penny Thomas said its too early to report the specific scope of work as the contract is not yet finished, but knows the work will include a community readiness assessment and associated community outreach, site planning, preliminary design, and a project funding plan.
Thomas added that this investment might also involve a future application to Commerce’s early learning facilities program. The Prescott School District’s grant was one of 30 given by the Washington State Department of Commerce totaling $5.4 million to organizations, including nonprofits and tribes, seeking to build new housing and community services, including child care, early learning and recreation.
