RITZVILLE – The Ritzville Police Department, with the cooperation of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Hanford Patrol K9 Unit, investigated a bomb and shooting threat made to Lind-Ritzville High School Tuesday over Snapchat. A 14-year-old boy was arrested for threats to bomb and used a teacher’s name and the name of a student to make the threats.

Police found a list of what appeared to be named targets of the juvenile suspect. Parents were notified if their children were one of the named people on the list.

A risk assessment will now be conducted in collaboration with the Lind-Ritzville School District. The school will come up with safety plans for affected students.

A threat assessment will determine what will happen with the suspect in regard to continuing his education.

This incident is still actively being investigated.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said this morning (Wednesday) the suspect appeared in court, and a judge found probable cause to proceed with the case. The judge set bail at $10,000, which was posted immediately by family members following the court hearing.
