LA GRANDE – An argument led to the arrest of 56-year-old Rodrick Warren Smith early yesterday morning. According to reports officers with the La Grande Police Department responded to an argument between two males. An investigation revealed that Smith had broken a window on a vehicle that was occupied by two people known to him. One victim received minor injuries during the fight. Smith fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Later, officers located Smith, who was the passenger in a vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop. When officers tried to arrest Smith for the earlier incident he did not cooperate with police and resisted arrest.
During the arrest, officers discovered Smith had a small baggie of methamphetamine on his person. He was arrested for “Assault IV, Criminal Mischief II and Disorderly Conduct II from his involvement in damaging the car and assaulting an occupant of the car from the earlier event and received the additional charges of Resisting Arrest and PCS-Methamphetamine from the later event when he was taken into custody,” according to the La Grande Police Department.
