UNION & WALLOWA COUNTIES – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has confirmed new, recent, wolf depredations in Union County and a probable depredation in Wallowa County.
Union County experienced two depredations, initially investigated on September 30 and October 2 respectively. The first depredation occurred in the Cabin Creek area on private land and resulted in the death of a single 6-month-old lamb. A guardian dog was also reported injured. The Balloon Tree Pack is confirmed to be responsible.
The second Union County depredation also occurred in the Cabin Creek area, with the Balloon Tree Pack again being confirmed responsible. This second depredation resulted in 1 dead ewe and 1 dead lamb.
Wallowa County experienced a probable depredation, initially investigated on September 30. This depredation occurred in the Eden Bench area on private land and resulted in the death of a single 8-month-old calf. The Wenaha Pack are listed as the probable pack responsible.
