LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Police Department) On Tuesday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 8:48 pm, the La Grande Police Department (LGPD) responded to a report of a disturbance at 3106 Alder Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that 38-year-old Dale Burke, of La Grande, had allegedly swung an axe at Kevin Arnold, a former employer, during an altercation.
Arnold stated he was working in his driveway when Burke suddenly approached carrying an axe and threatened him. Burke reportedly swung the axe several times, forcing Arnold to defend himself. During the altercation, Burke allegedly struck Arnold’s vehicle with the axe before fleeing the scene on foot. Fortunately, no serious injuries were sustained during this incident.
Officers initiated a search and, with the help of a witness, located Burke on Y Avenue near Depot Street. Burke was arrested and transported to the Union County Jail. He was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct II, Menacing, and Attempted Assault II.
